Don't just wing it. Here's how you can tell the difference.

If you’re a fan of the bachelor’s handbag, you may have noticed a slight packaging change at Woolies. The supermarket is now offering barbecue chickens in both yellow and black bags. And it’s not so you can choose which will better match with your outfit of the day.

It turns out that the new black packaging indicates that the chicken is halal – meaning that it’s permissible for Muslims to eat. To be halal, the chicken has to be processed and prepared in a way that adheres to Islamic law. It doesn’t affect the taste, texture or price, but it does open up easy meal options for those of Muslim faith.

After eagle-eyed shoppers picked up on the new detail, Woolies confirmed that the halal chooks are currently only available at selected Sydney stores, including Roselands, Bass Hill, Auburn, Lakemba, Bankstown and Granville.
