How it works
On Wednesday 3 June, delicious. editor-in-chief Kerrie McCallum will host a virtual dinner party with Shane Delia and delicious. wine contributor Merrick Watts for an evening of online food fanfare. Order a pre-prepared meal kit from Delia’s renowned Melbourne restaurant Maha, with cocktails included from the team at Ugly Duckling, and join our hosts for this special online reader dinner from your very own dining table. If you fancy some great wine with your meal, Merrick Watts has pairing notes for each menu – just add those wines to your meal kit order.
The best part of it all? There’s minimal cooking. Heat everything up and spend your evening enjoying the food and chat with Kerrie and her guests.
What you’ll be eating
True to form, Shane Delia’s special Maha menu showcases standout Mediterranean flavours. Enjoy date-glazed pork cutlet, roasted eggplant, charred spring onion and barberry XO, or sticky roasted cauliflower, harissa and preserved lemon chermoula. These mains are accompanied by green beans with Lebanese garlic and lemon, and aged Persian rice with barberry and lentil pilaf. For dessert, there’s a dark chocolate and peanut butter mousse with tahini caramel, raspberry jam and broken baklava. To add to the fun of it all, the dessert will arrive in separate components and Shane will show you how to plate it up at home. As for a cocktail, Ugly Duckling’s barrel-aged chocolate negroni provides the ultimate finish to a virtual night in.
In terms of wine pairings, Merrick suggests sipping on Fall From Grace ‘La Madrina’, Montepulciano with the glazed pork, and tossing up between a Patrick Puize “ Terroir De La Chapelle” Chablis or a Sorrenberg Chardonnay with the sticky roasted cauliflower. You can order these delightful drops from Maha directly when organising your meal kit.
