Ingredients (8)

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup (250ml) milk
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 8 (720g) frozen or fresh waffles, thawed if frozen
  • 50g unsalted butter, chopped
  • 2/3 cup (220g) dulce de leche
  • 250g sour cream
  • Honeycomb, to serve

Method

  • 1.
    To make the waffle French toast, place eggs, milk, cinnamon and a pinch of salt flakes in a deep tray and whisk to combine. In batches, add waffles and stand for 5 seconds each side to soak (oversoaking will cause waffles to break up). Allow excess to drip off. Set aside on a plate.
  • 2.
    Heat half the butter in a large frypan over medium-high heat. Add half the soaked waffles and cook for 2 minutes each side or until a deeper golden. Set aside, wipe out pan and repeat with remaining waffles and 25g butter.
  • 3.
    Spread waffles with dulce de leche and top with sour cream. Scatter with honeycomb and a pinch of salt flakes to serve.
