Time to live like there’s snow tomorrow.
With great powder comes great responsibility and we know how important it is to not only ski and board your best, but to eat and drink the best as well. Here are our top choices for where to eat and drink on the New South Wales snow fields.

Perisher
- White Spider
On-snow dining has never been so charming. Something of an institution in the Perisher valley is White Spider, a restaurant with dishes that punch above their weight, such as the vodka and beetroot cured salmon with yuzu gel and puffed quinoa. We particularly love that ‘little white spiders’ aren’t forgotten, and the three course children’s menu is a steal at $35. Wheatley Road, Perisher Valley, eiger.com.au/white-spider-restaurant-perisher - Marritz Bar and Restaurant
The menu at Marritz is everything you’d want from a hotel restaurant with striking views – it’s generous with the carbs, liberal with the butter and plentiful with flavour. From the charred vegetable tart with onion bacon jam, maple candied walnuts and goats’ cheese, to the Hungarian beef goulash with home-made spaetzle and salsa verde, there are no surprises, just good, hearty food. 12 Porcupine Road, Perisher Valley, marritzsalzburg.com.au/restaurant-bar/ - High Ground Coffee
We know you take your coffee seriously, and so do we. Just metres away from the village 8 ski-lift is High Ground Coffee Bar – the only place you need to go for your caffeine fix. Yes, the coffee is great but what really gets the snow on the road are the house made goodies, like the pear and almond cake, and southern fried chicken burger. Charlotte’s Pass
- Stillwell Hotel
After a morning on the blinding-white slopes, coming into the colourful restaurant at Stillwell Hotel is like walking into a rainbow. Lunch options are solid at this venue that serves primarily Mexican and Italian dishes. Crowd favourites are the enormous Buddha bowls and the beef burger with crispy curly fries. Step back in time at the Kosciuszko Chalet – the grand dame of these mountains. Make the most of the dining options by having dinner at Arches Restaurant followed by a full breakfast in the morning. Winter packages include a three-course meal, breakfast, snow transport and lift passes, so that’s your weekend sorted. charlottepass.com.au/accommodation/kosciuszko-chalet-hotel/

Thredbo
- Wild Brumby Distillery
You’d expect the highest distillery in Australia to create phenomenally pure spirits, and you’d be right. In the heart of the high country between Jindabyne and Thredbo is Wild Brumby, an award-winning distillery drawing on the alp’s super clean water and native mountain botanicals for its gin, vodka and schnapps. Come for the booze, stay for the European-influenced rib-sticking food. Alpine Way &, Wollondibby Rd, Crackenback, wildbrumby.com - Merritts Mountain House
What are you doing on Fridays between 24 June – 2 September? You’ll want to make sure that you’re booked in to ride the alpine gondola to Merritts Mountain House for a Bavarian feast. Located at 1660 metres, you feel as if you’re dining at the top of the world in this traditional European restaurant with enormous deck. And after an unforgettable meal, there’s nothing better than gliding down in the gondola over the twinkling lights of Thredbo village below. There’s nothing better than a burger after a long day on the slopes (or frankly, even if you’ve just had a short day on the slopes). Settle into the Americana-vibes of Thredbo Burger Bar and be prepared to chow down on almightily tasty food. We’re talking tender Black Angus beef, flame-grilled chicken burgers and sticky chicken wings. And those with dietaries aren’t just relegated to eating the skinny fries (though they do come highly recommended) – there’s lots of choice for vegos, vegans and those who are gluten-free. 1 Diggings Terrace, Thredbo, thredboburgerbar.com.au
