Ring in 2023 with a bang!
There are two things we want from NYE: good food and a banger view of the fireworks. This year we’ve done the hard work for you, and researched the best spots with the tastiest treats to bid adieu to 2022.
Here’s the delicious. guide to New Year’s Eve in Sydney.
NYE 22 Portside
Love a theme? This one is for you. Get your bell bottoms ready because Portside at Sydney Opera House will be hosting a 70s-themed NYE bash. Located along the western boardwalk, partygoers will have the one of the best vantage points for the fireworks in the city. The menu for the night leans into the theme – think Alaskan crab milk buns with creme fraiche and dill, vintage croquembouche with vanilla patisserie filled profiteroles and crunchy caramel. In typical retro fashion there’ll also be a cheese fondue station. Tickets include a 5.5hr drink package, live entertainment and a DJ line up that will have you shaking your tail feather all night long. Tickets from $850 per person, book via newyearseveportsidesydney.com.au
NYE Garden Party at the Calyx
Let’s start by talking about the food because there’s plenty of it. There will be canapes circulating throughout the night, think: smoked salmon dome with dill cream cheese, salmon roe and blini, and mini lobster and spring pea frittata with smoked crème fraiche. Dumplings and steamed bao will also make the rounds. A savoury grazing station – with pancetta, jamon, camembert, and more – and a sweet station – featuring mint brulee with a caramel crunch and mini torched lemon tart baked meringue, to name a couple – will also be set up. Bubbles and drinks will be free-flowing and for the cherry on top, as the clock approaches midnight guests will take a walk through the Garden to an exclusive harbour-side viewing area. Tickets from $595 per person, book via rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au.
Bridgeview NYE
You’ll get the trifecta of views from here. Set on the Tarpeian Lawn of the Royal Botanic Garden, Bridgeview offers views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay. Each ticket gets you entry and a generous picnic hamper that includes a snack, entree, main, dessert and supper. The highlight? The Flaky tartlet of vine tomato, marjoram, black olives and parmesan, lemon and herb dressing. Delish! Tickets from $385 per person, book via rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au.
