Another luxury hotel is coming to Sydney in 2023.

It looks like 2023 is turning out to be the year of hotel openings in Australia, as Capella Sydney has just opened its doors.

Located in the 107-year-old Department of Education building in Sydney’s Sandstone Precinct on Bridge Street, and just steps from the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Capella will be a convenient inner-city haven for tourists and locals alike.

The historic building will host 192 guestrooms and suites. The largest offering will be the Capella Suite, 235-square-metres of luxury located on the ninth floor, showcasing a standalone bathtub, Italian Frette linen and Haeckels amenities.

There will also be three ground-level food and beverage outlets. Brasserie 1930 will deliver an elevated modern brasserie experience that focuses on age-old cooking techniques such as curing, smoking, fermenting, preserving and pickling.

In honour of the original architect George McRae, McRae Bar will redefine the hotel lounge as you know it. It’ll be a modern rendition of a Victorian-era drinking den with a cocktail menu inspired by the first golden age of fine drinking, the 1800s.

The jewel in the crown will be the wellness offering on level six. Here you’ll find a 20-metre heated indoor swimming pool and exclusive amenities available to guests only such as a high-tech fitness centre, yoga platform, steam room, sauna and Auriga Spa.
