Now this is cosy.
Love your tea with a side of whimsy? This is the event for you. The biennial Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival is returning to South Gippsland this May for nine crisp autumn days, offering the kind of charming but slightly quirky country experience you thought you could only experience inside the pages of a book.
Held every two years in the small Victorian dairy farming community of Fish Creek, the festival brings together creativity, classic country bakes and some very well-dressed tea pots.

At the heart of the festival is the iconic Tea Cosy Exhibition at the Fish Creek Memorial Hall, where tea cosy-makers from across Australia have transformed teapots into imaginative works of art. Cosies can be submitted in a variety of categories, from ‘Traditional’ and ‘Children’s’ to ‘Exuberant’ and ‘Whimsy’. There are also additional displays dotted throughout town, so visitors can enjoy a self-guided ‘cosy crawl’ through Fish Creek’s streets and shopfronts.
Following a successful 2024 event that drew more than 9,000 visitors, this year’s theme – ‘Life on the Farm’ – celebrates Gippsland’s rural roots, with playful woollen takes on gumboots, tractors, sheepdogs and more.

The festival program will also feature knitting workshops with renowned expert Pru Raymond, as well as art exhibitions, live music, a community market and more Devonshire teas than you can politely refuse. And you won’t want to miss the Sunday Afternoon High Tea, serving up classic baked treats in true country style.
The Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival will be held over nine days, from May 16-24. The Sunday Afternoon High Tea will be held at the Fish Creek Bowls Club from 2-4pm on May 24. To plan your visit, go to visitgippsland.com.au
