Just another reason why Melbourne is officially the country's city of culture.
There are few things people from Sydney will admit those from Melbourne do better. But take a walk along one of the city’s many laneways, and you’ll find reason enough with its thriving street art scene. And now travellers visiting the city can sleep amongst these works of living art with a new concept from Melbourne’s DoubleTree by Hilton.
Partnering with local artists 90 degrees, the hotel has created a bespoke room that brings a touch of some of the city’s most famed laneways – think custom artwork, tagged furniture (and bed linen) and even curated street-art themed books and DVDs – to travellers.

As part of the hotel’s 90 Degrees Graffiti Loft package, guests can also dine in the hotels’ contemporary Platform 270 restaurant. Complimentary breakfast buffet offerings include all the usual bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from Hilton while the venue by night becomes a dark and sultry space perfect for drinks and dinner. Those looking for hotel classics like the club sandwich will also find solace with the restaurant’s hearty spin on the classic. With a contemporary Australian menu, the restaurant also focuses on showcasing house steaks and seafood while offering an extensive wine list to sample local and broader Australian wines.
Back in your graffiti loft, chocolate lovers will revel in edible graffiti snack delivered expertly by one of the hotel’s attentive staff. But act quickly though, this dessert waits for no Instagram shot.

Flanked by Flinders Street railway station on one side and nestled between Elizabeth and Swanston Street, the hotel is mere minutes from popular attractions including the National Gallery of Victoria (be sure to check out the current Hokusai exhibition) and a short walk to the dozen of laneway and street shopping centres and countless restaurants.
The Graffiti Loft experience is available until October 2 and starts at $250 per night. For more see, here.
