Bruny Island Cheese Co. makes some of the finest artisan cheese in the country, and sitting under the eucalypts at their cabin-style cellar door tucking into a cheese platter is a Bruny must-do. They now have a range of craft beer to seal the deal, including a whey stout brewed using whey leftover from making their Raw Milk C2 cheese. And you can indulge in the coffee, freshly baked cakes, organic wood-fired sourdough bread, and house-made relishes and preserves on offer, too.

Get Shucked offers ‘bay-to-bar’ dining at their rustic indoor-outdoor oyster bar, which overlooks their oyster lease in the glassy waters of Great Bay. On the menu there’s a selection of natural and cooked oysters to pair with Tassie beer, cider, sparkling and wine as you while away the afternoon on the timber deck. Those on the go can swing by their oyster drive-through (a world first!) for boxes of freshly shucked oysters to go, as well as live oysters and shucking knives for the brave.

If you’re on the island between October and April, head to Bruny Island Berry Farm where you can pick your own raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and boysenberries, all grown in abundance due to the island’s cool climate. After all that hard work, head to the cafe for Devonshire tea, pancakes, pastries, savoury pies and all manner of cakes, ice creams and desserts made with… you guessed it, berries!

The menu at this local favourite spans small plates and larger meals all locally sourced from wallaby spring rolls, to chicken parmie made with Marion Bay free-range chicken and Bruny Island Cheese Co. cheese, plus locally caught squid and hearty seafood chowder.
