You won't believe which luxury hotel brand is coming to the Gold Coast in December
JW Marriott has unveiled plans to open its first Australian hotel on the Gold Coast this December, after completing a $35 million renovation and rebrand of the former Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa.
Idyllic beachside location
When completed, the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa will house 223 rooms and suites offering expansive ocean or hinterland views from its idyllic location in Ferny Avenue, just footsteps from the Gold Coast’s iconic beaches and dining. The brand tapped award-winning Australian design house DBI Design – the company behind the existing property – to reimagine the resort and breathe new life into a Gold Coast icon.
Distinctive interior design
Described as equal parts exclusive and effortless, the renovation promises a relaxed, coastal aesthetic, inspired by the resort’s original features and unique tropical design. The interiors look set to make this new arrival a firm favourite among discerning travellers, while delivering a subtle nod to the coastal location via neutral hues, natural timbers, gentle curves and locally sourced materials.
Restaurants reimagined
Even better? The property will bring six new eateries and bars to the Gold Coast, including a brand new – as yet unnamed – Japanese whisky bar (which we’re already dying to visit), lobby lounge and bar, pool bar and a signature JW Marketplace, alongside two new feature restaurants.
Enticing new eateries
Following an extensive refresh, the main restaurant Citrique will feature an interactive show kitchen with a focus on fresh produce and seafood. Meanwhile teppanyaki hotspot Misono is being expanded into an eat-street style dining experience, offering an array of Japanese eats, including a tearoom, sushi bar and intimate dining at Izakaya. Indoor-outdoor lounge and bar Chapter & Verse is also set for a transformation that’s destined to make it a favourite for craft cocktails and sophisticated bites.
Doors open in December
While the hotel is still welcoming guests during renovations, it is scheduled to officially reopen as JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa in December 2020. Stay up-to-date on the transformation at www.surfersparadisemarriott.com
