Sydney is now home to a brand new luxury hotel, with this week’s opening of DOMA Group’s innovative Little National Hotel concept in the Sydney CBD.
First look: Sydney's newest luxury hotel is exactly what your Instagram needs rn
Grab a cocktail and get comfy, it’s time to take a first look inside Sydney’s newest –– and possibly chicest –– luxury hotel. Feed planning optional, but definitely not frowned upon.
Modern luxury
Perched high above Sydney’s buzzing Wynyard station, with views across the CBD, Little National’s chic inner-city design concept prioritises natural light, generous custom-designed spaces and modern interior design.
Understated chic
The brand is renowned among luxury travellers as a smart choice for those who intend to spend the majority of their time outside the room, enjoying the experiences, sights and sounds of the location, rather than indulging in traditional hotel frills.
Affordable luxury
As well as five-star rooms and a fusion of low-cost, high-value style, the new Little National location will also encompass a guest gym, library and luxe new rooftop garden bar.
Thoughtful design
Placed directly on top of transport infrastructure, the building is supported via a steel frame structure; a structural engineering method rarely used in Australia. The exterior features a simple linear form with soft curved corners, creating a seamless connection with outside. Horizontal bands double as sunshades, a subtle nod to the previous transport house, harmonising with the heritage context of the building.
Inner city vibes
Taking inspiration from its chic, inner-city location, the hotel interiors focus on a theme of natural light and efficiency of space thoughout. Every single detail of the rooms has been carefully, from the floor to ceiling windows to the bespoke super king-sized bed with built-in charging ports… even the television and lighting controls are all within arm’s reach.
Efficient interiors
The new property plays host to 230 high-tech rooms that deliver their signature blend of luxury while showcasing the efficient use of space for which Little National hotels are renowned.
Generous spaces
But it’s the communal guest areas that are Little National’s crowning glory. The generous, light-filled spaces have been designed as an experience in their own right. The spectacular open plan rooftop with double height ceilings features an expansive library work (or “work not”) space, exclusive bar and custom-built fireplace, flanked by intimate lounge-style seating.
Get comfy
Filled with greenery, yet with sweeping views of the sparkling city skyline, the indoor-outdoor setting provides guests with a private oasis to work, drink and socialise in the heart of the vibrant Sydney city.
Refined minimalism
“Little National Sydney’s design focuses on providing everything you need, but nothing that you don’t”, says Guy Lake, Director at Bates Smart and the creative force behind the hotel’s architecture. “We wanted to ensure this hotel felt refined and understated, without compromising on quality and space.”
Bookings open
The Little National Sydney hotel will be one of three Little National Hotels in Australia, once the Newcastle location commences construction later this year.
