After three years in the making, Powerhouse Tamworth by Rydges has completed its multi-million-dollar redevelopment, creating the only five-star hotel property in the New England region of New South Wales. From the moment you check in, you can expect beautiful, bespoke spaces that envelope and inspire you in this stunning home away from home.
You’ll never guess which regional NSW town has this amazing five-star luxury hotel
Hint: It’s the country music capital of Australia.
The interiors
The refurbishment was designed and implemented by Australian award-winning design team, Paul Kelly Design, for renowned regional hotelier, Greg Maguire. The interiors draw on high-tech, yet subtle lighting that highlights the tactile and warm furnishings of natural timber, leather and stone.
The rooms
There are 20 brand-new luxuriously appointed serviced apartments, complementing the property’s 61 newly refurbished rooms and suites. You can choose between one- and two-bedroom options and a three-bedroom villa, perfect for longer stays or multi-generational trips. The colour palate of Prussian blue and slate grey, together with bespoke leather bedheads, marble bedside tables and bathrooms lend a feeling of timeless luxury.
The dining
If you think you have to leave the hotel in order to get a great meal, think again. The hotel’s iconic restaurant, The Workshop Kitchen, is known for its wood-fired grill and superb local steaks (not to mention the stunning 800-strong wine bottle entrance wall). The grill is fired up daily with the finest Pilliga Western Red Ironbark, which gives a full-flavoured depth to the dishes.
The drinking
Sitting alongside the restaurant is Coal Bunker Bar, a classy-cool bar with brass and timber elements and aqua-hued soft velvet furnishings. It’s a chic and intimate setting, making it the perfect spot for an evening martini or a nightcap. And if you’re a whiskey fan, your jaw will drop once you see the entire whiskey cabinet showcasing the finest spirits from around the globe.
The great outdoors
Take a dip in the glittering outdoor pool, reminiscent of a tropical oasis surrounded by palm trees and rough-hewn rocks. Or fire up the BBQ with some of the spectacular local produce and delicacies. If you’re keen to explore the local area, there are two Tesla charging stations so you can boost your electric vehicle before heading off on day trip to explore the heart of country NSW.
