Location, location
Perched in prime position on Hunter Street, it’s mere footsteps from Queen’s Wharf and the bustling Hunter Mall, and within walking distance of the city’s best food, entertainment and beaches, including Darby Street, Foreshore Park, Newcastle Museum, Art Gallery and Civic Theatre.
The suite life
In true QT style, the Newcastle hotel has its own signature vibe to ensure it stands out from its inner-city siblings. The lobby fuses industrial brick and steel with vibrant pops of colour and whimsical styling, including stacks of retro luggage, plush chaise longues and multicoloured graffiti-laden mannequins (created for QT Newcastle by local artist Mitch Revs as a nod to the building’s history.)
Room with a view
The luxe industrial-chic rooms and suites are the ideal blend of chic, solid and comfy, with an old-school New York loft vibe, graceful Art Deco touches and gasp-worthy views across the harbour to Stockton, east to Nobby’s Point and the lighthouse. Each room features an eclectic mix of restored heritage touches including original beams, airy designer furnishings and a revolving colour palette inspired by the elements of earth, water and light.
Signature dining
Stepping into signature restaurant Jana is like being transported into the house of the Roman lunar goddess herself, with its burnt umber and natural wooden hues, soft linen curtains and celestially themed decor. A giant moon hangs from the ceiling as a nod to the restaurant’s namesake. Internationally acclaimed executive Chef Massimo Speroni (formerly of Brisbane restaurant Bacchus) serves an approachable, produce-led menu that showcases the region’s best premium ingredients.
Rooftop bar
Rooftop at QT is a slick rooftop cocktail bar meets izakaya with expansive views across the harbour. The city’s highest open-air rooftop bar offers sophisticated, artistic cocktails like Harajuku Highball and Tomasu Margarita, a sophisticated local wine list, sake, umeshu and a hefty selection of Japanese Whisky along with a menu of crowd-pleasing favourites like salmon sashimi and yakitori chicken.
Finishing touches
It’s the little things that make a big difference and there’s plenty to go around at QT Newcastle. The rooms feature oversized bathtubs, ridiculously comfy pillows, cool crisp linens, snuggly quilts and luxe brushed gold touches. Bathrooms are well-lit and laden with amenities, including high-tech Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryers, Kevin Murphy products and flattering circle lights for those essential travelgrams. Dyson Corrale™ straighteners are available in suites and upon request.
