Genius or sacrilege? You decide.
Places where you can celebrate International Beer Day in Australia can be few and far between, so it’s always worth checking out any establishment that puts in the effort to create something unique. No matter how strange it sounds.
What is a Largarita?
We’re glad you asked. It’s essentially a beer and tequila hybrid cocktail that’s a crafty twist on the classic Margarita cocktail. Think one part lager, one part margarita.
The mixologists at Socal in Sydney’s Neutral Bay decided to level up their classic margarita – made with Olmeca Altos – by adding Mexican Lager.
It might sounds strange, but cocktails combining beer and tequila have been around for a while. The beer margarita, beer-ita, coronarita and tequila shandy all combine beer and tequila in a variety of different ways. Caballitos in Perth is renowned for their frozen largarita cocktail.
The combination is also known as a Mexican Car Crash, Mexican Bulldog or a Corona Fog, when it’s made with corona and topped with tequila, lime and salt.
For those keen to give it a shot, we say both hasta luego and buena suerte. The Largarita is available all day today at SoCal Neutral Bay for $14.00
