It’s going to be crowded at Birrarung Marr but it’s going to be worth it for unrivalled views of the fireworks and the convenience of dashing to the East End for a post-midnight boogie. Batman Avenue, Melbourne

A little seaside paradise, right in the heart of Melbourne. Williamstown Beach is a laid-back spot to catch a great view of the fireworks on NYE. 14 Esplanade, Williamstown

Head to the heart of the city and join the throng as top DJs spin tunes from 7pm until late. At midnight, you’ll witness the fireworks bursting from the rooftops of the surrounding buildings, along with a laser display. It’s a great view, but it will be crowded. An official celebration zone at Docklands will kick off at 6pm, with DJs playing until 1am and a range of food options on offer, from ice cream and fairy floss to seafood and Greek and Spanish cuisine. This is a great spot to catch the midnight fireworks over the water. Docklands, Melbourne

Another official celebration zone will be set up just outside of the Shrine of Remembrance, with a great view of the skyline. Along with DJs and food trucks, you’ll also get the chance to take part in a Bollywood dance workshop with the Jhoom Bollywood Dance Company. Birdwood Ave, Melbourne

Festivities will kick off at 6pm and feature DJs and a dance performance and workshop by L2R Dance, a not-for-profit youth street dance organisation.
