Got the munchies? This Thai resort has launched a cannabis-infused menu

Anantara supplied Chiang Mai

It's high time you tried it.

To celebrate the decriminalisation of marijuana in Thailand, The Service 1921 at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort has rolled out a special cannabis-infused menu.

The restaurant and bar serves traditional Thai fare with cannabis leaves added to all the signature dishes. Top orders include the deep-fried sea bass with crispy cannabis leaves, braised pork spare ribs with a shiitake mushroom and cannabis soup and grilled river prawns with a spicy lime cannabis sauce. Pair it with one of the cannabis-spiked drinks, from freshly brewed cannabis tea to the Cannabis Fizzy, made from pineapple juice, apple nectar, cannabis syrup and soda, garnished with a ganja leaf.

In line with the new legislation, The Service 1921 only uses cannabis leaves, as opposed to the flowers, buds and seeds which are still off limits. The leaves only contain trace amounts of CBD and THC (the main psychoactive ingredient) so you won’t feel dizzy or dazed afterwards. You may, however, feel rejuvenated and refreshed. Cannabis is considered a superfood by many, containing almost all of the essential nutrients, including vitamin C and K,  folate, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and more. It also tastes pretty dope, too.

The Service 1921 is a British spy-themed restaurant and bar housed in a former British Consulate at the Anantara Chiang Mai Resort.  In place of the courtroom and offices, you’ll find a dining salon, elegant lounge area, whisky room, wine cellar and balcony terrace. For those dining with friends, a private dining room can be accessed through a secret book shelf door in the library wall.
