London will soon be home to a massive new theme park, which has been dubbed UK Disney World. The London Resort is a 3.5 billion project expected to open in Swanscombe, Kent in 2024. The ambitious project is one step closer to being built after this week announcing plans for public consultation during the European summer months. Billed as one of the most ambitious theme park projects ever in Europe, it will be the first development of its kind to be built since Disneyland Paris in 1992.

Just like Disneyland, only British (and slightly fancier.)
Massive theme park to open 20 minutes from London
The London Resort is a partnership between BBC, ITV Studios and Paramount Pictures. “UK Disney World” – as it has been dubbed – will eventually be a two park resort featuring six islands, a resort water park and rides based on iconic brands from across literature, tv and film, including kids shows like Thunderbirds. It will also be home to a bespoke entertainment district, including 3500 hotel rooms and “food and drink for every taste.”
Planned six islands of The London Resort
Four visuals have been released, hinting at the “next generation” rides and unique experiences people can expect when the first park gate opens in 2024. Visitors will enter via a grand plaza, walk through The High Street full of shops and can journey through lands such as The Studios (a gritty, modern-day warehouse district), The Woods (an enchanted fantasy realm), The Kingdom (a land of swords and legends), The Isles (home to mythical creatures), The Jungle (ancient ruins of a mysteries long-lost civilisation) and finally, The Starport (a bustling 23rd century landing zone).
The new theme park is set to open in 2024
The attraction will eventually be a two park resort, with the second park expected to open in 2029, a decade from now. When it is complete, it will be three times larger than any other park in the United Kingdom, with around 70% of the attractions set to be undercover, to help the park cope with the unpredictable English weather. The 535-acre site just 17 minutes from London is the equivalent of 136 Wembley Stadiums put together. To keep up to date with developments, visit londonresort.info
