Thought plant-based = rabbit food? Read on.

For many, thoughts of vegan or plant-based dishes conjure images of lean, leafy green meals that could be described as the epitome of ‘clean’ eating (whatever that really means).

And yet, new venues popping up across cities worldwide are proving that plant-based foods can be just as dirty as their meaty counterparts (think deep-fried, oily and umami-rich fast foods).

Now, Alibi Bar and Kitchen, inside the award-winning Ovolo Woolloomooloo hotel, is introducing its ‘Dirty Greens’ menu. A gateway for meat-eaters looking to cut back, and a godsend for vegans looking for hearty (hangover-friendly) fare, the new all-new, all-plant menu is the brainchild of head chef Jordan Brogan – alongside Ovolo’s creative culinary partner, US plant-based chef and restaurateur, Matthew Kenney.

What’s on the menu?

There’s mac ‘n’ cheese balls (made using vegan cheeses and creams), and tacos, ‘Peking D**k Pancakes’ and bao buns that use tasty pulled jackfruit rather than pork. Then there’s the hotdogs that use Beyond Meat’s sausages (filled with pea-based protein). And, to accompany your dirty greens is a selection of sustainably focussed wines and quenching cocktails.
