Imagination: life is your creation.
The aptly named Punk Princess of Pastry (and delicious. Bake Club contender), Anna Polyviou is extending sweet lovers an invitation once made by famed 90s philosophers, Aqua: ‘come on Barbie, let’s go party’.

From July 5 to 28, Anna will be proving once and for all that life in plastic, is indeed fantastic, with her Barbie-themed high tea at Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney (just in time for school holidays).

What’s on the shocking-pink menu? Expect to indulge in a rainbow trifle, fairybread cake, Barbie macarons and a Barbie shake. And, in the interest of balance, there’s also be vegetable sushi, chicken sandwiches and fluffy scones.
Polyviou says the inspiration behind the new high tea experience is a personal one: ‘I still love playing with Barbie dolls with my niece, as she’s part of all our childhood memories. I want family and friends to have fun, eat epic desserts and enjoy the deliciousness of my new Barbie High Tea menu’.

The Shangri-La’s lower Lobby Lounge will be adorned in Barbie pink, and feature a photo wall of Barbie throughout the ages.
And, Barbie fans can also join Polyviou at a one-off birthday party on 6 July. Here, sweet lovers can enjoy a high tea, rocky road workshop, tunes from an in-house DJ and take-home gifts – including a Barbie cookbook. Yes, that’s a thing.
