And the winner will shock you.
Veganism may not be the rarity that it once was but that doesn’t mean that finding vegan options when dining out is a breeze, particularly when it comes to air travel.
But some of Australia’s airlines are making it possible to maintain a vegan diet in the sky. And there is one airline in particular that stands out above the rest when it comes to being vegan-friendly – Jetstar.
The airline has just launched a new menu which includes two vegan options – a Lentil and Tabbouleh SumoSalad with Falafel, and Mr Lee’s Noodles with Zen Garden Vegetables. It marks the first time that vegan meals can be purchased on a flight without having to pre-order well in advance. The dishes are currently available on international flights, and will be made available domestically come February.
As a result of their introduction of these vegan additions, Jetstar has received a Proggy Award from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). It’s an accolade that stands for progress and recognises animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture.
“Australians are now searching for vegan food everywhere,PETA corporate liaison Emily Rice commented in a statement, “whether they’re in a supermarket, in a café, or 30,000 feet in the air. Cruelty-free culture has taken off around Australia, and we applaud Jetstar for listening to the demand.”
