The world’s best hops, pure water and locally-grown grain make Tasmania a beer brewer’s (and drinker’s) paradise. The 20-strong breweries are producing some of the most interesting ales in the country, and have banded together to launch the Tasmanian Beer Trail, a state-wide craft beer trail winding all the may from Moo Brew in Bridgewater to Little River Brewery in Scottsdale.
Hobart has a bevy of new breweries to showcase, including Last Rites, Double Head Brewing and Hobart Brewing Co, complete with fire-pit and food-truck-friendly beer garden.
Up in Launceston, the ultra-hip Kick|Snare has made waves with a low-alcohol raspberry sour brew that challenges sour beer norms, and a few hours west micro-brewery Seven Sheds owner Willie Simpson uses locally-grown quinoa and Peruvian cacao in his Black Inca ale.
