Wackadoo! Say hello to new face of Queensland
If you’re looking for a family-friendly holiday destination in Australia, you can’t go wrong with Queensland. From the gloriously warm weather all year round, delicious food offerings, stunning beaches and swim spots and endless activities for kids of all ages, it’s really a no brainer. And Queensland are doubling down on it.
The Sunshine State has just launched its new campaign based around Australian children’s program, Bluey. Beloved by kids and adults alike, Bluey is set in Queensland and the state is welcoming travellers to make like the popular Heeler family to not only experience Bluey’s home city of Brisbane, but all of Bluey’s home state.
If you’ve watched Bluey before then you don’t need reminding that there’s an episode called ‘Keepy Uppy’ and it is based around, well you guessed it, a game of Keepy Uppy. To celebrate the launch of Queensland’s new tourism campaign the state replicated the game, but on a much bigger scale. So big, in fact, it set the world record for the biggest game of Keepy Uppy ever played in Queensland.

Spanning almost 2,000km, three massive games took place on Main Beach in Gold Coast, the Esplanade in Cairns and South Bank in Brisbane. The aim of the game was to try to keep the inflatable balls from touching the ground for one minute and 702 participants did just, making it the largest game of Keep Uppy ever played in Queensland. The Australian Book of Records oversaw the three official games, which were played simultaneously.
In November, the official Bluey’s World immersive experience will open in Brisbane. Queensland is giving a family of four the chance to win a 12-night holiday that will include the Great Barrier Reef, theme parks, glamping under the stars, surfing lessons and a first look at Bluey’s World.
