Check in and check out Melbourne Airport’s newest dining addition.

Say goodbye to packaged sandwiches and hello to Deep fried lasagne, wood-fired pizza, Trofie pasta with garlic and chilli prawns and Fior di latte soft serve with olive oil and Murray salt at Melbourne Airport’s newest dining establishment Boccata Restaurant & Bar.

The Italian restaurant is taking restaurant dining to new heights with chef Rosy Scatigna – of Hotel Morris Sydney fame – lending her culinary and creative genius to the menu. Executive chef Christian Corpuz will bring Scatigna’s vision from paper to plate, while the F&B director Dylan Wisnesky mans the floor.

When it comes to the food, the trattoria-style menu is deeply inspired by Scatigna’s Italian roots. With classic flavours like garlic, chilli, fresh herbs, citrus and the highest quality olive oil featured across many of the dishes.

“The inspiration for the Boccata menu comes from my own family’s Italian roots and the stories of Melbourne’s Italian immigrant community. When we set out to create this menu, we wanted to honour those cherished memories while celebrating the incredible produce from Victoria’s local farmers,” says Scatigna.

Menu highlights include Deep-fried lasagna with paprika mayo, Kingfish crudo acqua pazza, Beef ragù pappardelle with parmigiano reggiano, Pizza with stracciatella, ricotta, pesto and pistachio and to finish off soft serve Affogato that you can add Frangelico to. Bellissimo!

Boccata rejects the sterile, colourless airport interiors and opts for a dining space that is chic and welcoming – think warm timber tones, classic Italian patterns and soft banquette seating. There are large domed windows to let in natural light and a large open kitchen and pizza oven that make you feel like the airport is miles away.
