12 countries. No waiting.
We may be in the middle of a global pandemic, but there’s no reason that you should let social distancing stop you from seeing the world. As the ongoing coronavirus outbreak continues to take its toll on the travel industry, more virtual field trips and online travel experiences are emerging to help us all take a break from what has become an alarming reality.
And this YouTube channel may be one of the best virtual field trips on offer right now. You can experience an incredibly authentic 360-degree visit to more than twelve countries, all in eye-popping 4K, courtesy of the Nomadic Ambience YouTube Channel. And you don’t even have to leave the couch. You don’t have to leave the couch for a lot of the best things in life right now.
Created by a solo traveller known only as Kyler B, who “loves photography, video and exploring new cultures,” the channel has amassed some 18 million views and over 130,000 subscribers since their first upload in July 2017.
Some of the highlights include: watching the sunrise over the ocean in Los Cabos, walking around New York City in the snow, strolling through Shibuya Crossing at night, wandering the black sands of Diamond Beach in Iceland, and a 15-minute Parisian cityscape that’s so good you can almost taste the freshly baked croissants.
While, naturally, the best thing is being there: we have to admit, this temporary substitute is pretty. darn. good. Maybe it’s the unique combination of awe-inspiring 4K footage and authentic ambient sounds that make these particular virtual travel experiences such a welcome relief from reality. And that’s enough to soothe our quarantine-induced wanderlust. At least for now.
