The ‘happiest place on earth’ has fast become the most expensive.
If you love theme parks, but hate waiting in line then we have some good news and some bad news for you. We’ll start with the good news, Disneyland and Disney World have just launched a new skip-the-line pass called Lightening Lane Premier Pass.
The new pass will allow visitors to skip the line to every attraction that offers Lightning Lane entrance. You can only skip the line one time per attraction, but are able to use it whenever you like during the day, no time slot booking is required.
Now for the bad news. This time-saving pass does not come cheap and there are conditions to who can access it. At Walt Disney World in Orlando, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will only be available to guests staying at the park at a Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort. Guests will also need to buy a Lightning Lane Premier Pass for each park per day and prices vary. For Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park the pass will cost from $129 to $199 (plus tax) depending on the date you visit. The most expensive park at Walt Disney World is Magic Kingdom, where prices range from $329 to $449 plus tax per person, which is then double the entry fee.
It’s no cheaper at Disneyland in LA. One saving grace is that the pass is available to every guest with a park reservation, so you don’t have to be staying at a Disneyland resort to book, and the pass is valid for the two parks. But, like its Floridian sister park, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass does not come cheap at Disneyland. It will be jaw-dropping $400 per day, per person. In 2025, prices will begin to vary from $300 to $400.
Passes at both parks are launching this month. They say time is money and if you don’t want to spend hours waiting in lines throughout the day, it’s going to cost you. Just keep spending, I mean, swimming.
