All aboard! This luxurious train is returning to the rails.
After a long hiatus, come February 2024, the Eastern & Oriental Express, A Belmond Train, South East Asia will be making its return to the rails.
Two seasonal journeys will depart Singapore and travel through Malaysia’s ever-changing landscapes and vibrant cities. The Essence of Malaysia three-night itinerary will travel through Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and finally to the colourful island of Penang, while the Wild Malaysia journey will take passengers through Taman Negara National Park, one of the oldest tropical rainforests in the world, on the eastern side of the peninsula.

Along with some adventurous new journeys, each of the iconic train’s 15 dark green carriages have been restyled to celebrate its return. Travellers will have their pick from eight sleeping cars with three different cabin categories: Pullman, State and Presidential. Each includes air conditioning and private bathrooms.

The Pullman cabins are inspired by the radiance of Kuala Lumpur, furnished with red sofas, blue cushions, drapery and pelmets that reflect the city’s dramatic skies. State cabins draw on Penang’s Marine locale with a bright blue and green colour palette that adorns the interiors. Hues of gold and embroidered decor in the Presidential cabins celebrate the regional opulence.

When it comes to food and beverage options, guests will be able dine at one of the two restaurant cars, a Piano Bar Car and or a stunning open-air Observation Car. Dishes served aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express are rooted in Perankan culture. A blend of Chinese, Malay and other Southeast Asian culinary influences are intricately woven through the menu that takes full advantage of local ingredients.

Brb, making tracks to Malaysia.
