There'll be no need to avoid looking into those guilt-tripping, puppy-dog eyes when you leave your dog at home anymore.

Parents of fur babies: it’s time to get excited. Recently we announced that Ovolo Hotels had a package befitting the V.I.Pooch in your life – and now, a new pet- and planet-friendly hotel has opened its doors in Richmond, Melbourne.

Pets are made to feel welcome with the option of comfy pet beds, toys and even a dog-friendly mini bar on hand, allowing guests to travel with their best friends.

Element by Westin, part of the Marriot International group, presents an eco-conscious ethos for travellers visiting Victoria. On the banks of the Yarra River, a stroll from the eateries of Swan Street, the energy-efficient hotel has been designed by Rothelowman architects.

Water-saving taps and fixtures, LED lighting, energy-efficient kitchens are all part of the hotel’s plans to reduce its footprint. And, Element’s Bikes-to-Borrow program means guests can explore the neighbouring bike paths and discover the city by bicycle.

The hotel’s curved facade pays homage to the bends of the Yarra River, and native Australian floral tones have been used throughout the interiors.

Come breakfast time, guests are lured into Rise for a nutritious start to the day, while lunch and dinner beckons diners to Mint Lane Restaurant & Bar for a serving of Australian fare made from local ingredients.
