Check in for a good cause.
Kangaroo Island’s Southern Ocean Lodge is one of the most anticipated hotel openings in Australia for 2023. After the iconic accommodation sadly burned down in the 2019 bushfires (along with half the island) and three years of rebuilding, Southern Ocean Lodge finally has a date from when we can check in. Baillie Lodges has announced that the new-look luxury lodge will reopen on December 6.
As the waitlist of travellers keen to see the new property grows, Baillie Lodges is holding a charity auction of three ‘first in’ stays, each for three nights. Winning bidders will be treated to a special preview stay from December 5-8 and be the first to enjoy an all-inclusive experience of the reimagined lodge, as well as guided excursions of Kangaroo Island.
Proceeds from the auction will go to three Australian community organisations chosen for their significance to the team at Southern Ocean Lodge, which includes The Royal Flying Doctor Service, The Maggie Beer Foundation and The KI Country Education Fund.
For those who want to get behind a good cause and indulge in a little luxury, the online auction is now live and will remain open until April 24, when the winning bidders will secure their stay at Southern Ocean Lodge.
If you miss out, don’t fret. Baillie Lodges is expecting to announce a ‘bookings open’ date in early May. Mark it in your calendars.
