Road trip, anyone?

Crescent Head is a sleepy surf town in NSW, just a 50-minute drive north of its popular neighbour Port Macquarie. But that’s all about to change in 2023 thanks to the opening of Sea Sea surf club and hotel, which is slated to open in May. The new 70s-inspired, 25-room hotel is the brainchild of husband and wife duo George and Cisco Gorrow and is set to redefine this coastal town.

The Gorrow’s may ring a bell. George Gorrow is widely recognised as the co-founder of one of Australia’s most iconic street brands, Ksubi. Cisco is an internationally acclaimed model. Together they both launched The Slow in Bali in 2016 and have since been on the hunt for their next venture.

“I had been looking for a place to grab me again in the way Bali did,” says George. “We have been going to Crescent since I was a small child. Dad was a longboarder and he was always chasing waves with us up and down the coast. Crescent Head Point was always on our hit list for those trips. I went back a few years ago for the first time in a while for a friend’s wedding and fell in love with the place all over again.”

“It’s got a special slowness to the place,” continues George.  “Not sure if that’s me getting old, but that’s what I’m seeking after the hustle and bustle. It still feels like that place you visited as a child. My wife and kids love surfing and the waves are super fun for everyone.”

Similarly to The Slow, the Gorrows will be creating an immersive experience that follows their interests of design, music, fashion and good food.

Room will be fitted with artisan-produced furniture and crafts complimenting audacious art. There’ll be a revolving program of music performances, mix track and art exhibition. The hotel will also boast its own Sea Sea home collection, a souvenir shop and Room 13, a culturally curated project space. It will also become home to Non-type, a new fashion label between George and fellow co-founder of Ksubi, Gareth Moody.

When it comes to food and drink local chef Daniel Medcalf of No. 35 Kitchen and Bar and mixologist Antonello Arzedi will be collaborating on a menu for the venue.

As the venue is still in its initial construction phase details are limited, but this is one to keep your eye on.
