Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts have today announced the opening of their latest property, the Kerry Hotel, in Hong Kong which is set to become home to a world-class urban resort.
As the brainchild of architect and interior designer Andre Fu, the 546-room hotel will feature extensive outdoor areas (think landscaped gardens connecting public spaces), a multi-level podium space and plenty of natural daylight – a rare commodity considering Hong Kong’s busy landscape.

It’s not just the exteriors though that will be among the main drawcards. More than 1,000 pieces of art will grace the walls of the hotel, many specifically commissioned from highly sought after Asian contemporary artists, while more than 60 per cent of the guestrooms will feature panoramic views of Hong Kong’s skyline and Victoria Harbour.

Guests looking for places to eat will be hard pressed to look elsewhere with all five of the hotel’s restaurants and bar offering landscaped terraces looking out to vistas of Victoria Harbour. The hotel’s signature dining destination, Hung Tong, is set to open with a modern Chinese menu that honours Hong Kong’s past while Red Sugar, the hotel’s bar, will offer a 270-degree wraparound terrace with unsurpassed views of the surrounding bay. Opening from mid-morning to late will be Dockyard that’ll even allow guests to order food and drinks and browse menus directly from an app on their mobile device.

Catering to the modern traveller the hotel will feature unique running clubs as well as a 24-hour Base Camp with a 25-metre outdoor infinity pool. Bespoke history and food culture trails along the shore of Hung Hom Bay will also seek to allow guests to rediscover the busy city.

Opening on April 28, the 16-storey property on the shoreline of Hung Hom Bay in the famed Victoria Harbour will be the first hotel to open on the Kowloon waterfront since 1995.
