Walk on the wild side.

Not that the Blue Mountains needed another attraction (hello, Three Sisters), but the NSW Government has given us one and we’re thrilled about it.

The brand-new Grand Cliff Top Walk has just opened in time for the long weekend. Avid walkers will relish the two-day track, which runs for 19km and connects the Wentworth Falls, Leura and Katoomba areas.

The elevated walking trail will span the Blue Mountains National Park escarpment and offer walkers stunning views of the Jamison Valley towards Mount Solitary, the Three Sisters, the Wentworth Fall and the Katoomba Cascades along the way.

The Blue Mountains mayor, Mark Greenhill, and his council have worked closely with the state’s National Parks and Wildlife Service “to renew and connect existing walking tracks and complete missing links in Wentworth Falls and Katoomba”.

If you’re not keen to commit to the whole 19km, the Grand Cliff Top Walk is accessible from different locations and allows walkers to tailor the length of their walk. Those taking on the whole walk, which begins at Wilson Park Picnic Area (near Wentworth Falls) and ends at Scenic World (near Katoomba Falls) will be able to stop and enjoy the night in a mountain village with a range of accommodation options.

The Grand Cliff Top Walk is not the only new trail Australians and tourists have to look forward to. A new treetop walk and hiking trail is coming to Gondwana Rainforest. In the meantime, you can get your fix in the city this long weekend along The most scenic views can be found on these nature walks in Sydney.

This new walk is part of a network of 13 NSW Great Walks being established in national parks across NSW, which you can find out more about here
