Now you can order room service via emojis

Room service is only an emoji away

Because sometimes you really just don't want to interact with another human.

It’s okay, we won’t judge. And neither will the Aloft Hotel in Manhattan.

Had a massive night and can’t deal with picking up the phone to order a room service breakfast?

Just send a three emoji sequence – say, water droplet, pill and banana – along with your room number, and this hotel with ferry you up vitamin waters, painkillers and bananas to remedy that hangover. They promise to have the goods up to your room in 10 minutes or so, and the charge just gets added to your bill.

You can also order munchies, Metro cards and surprise packages, just for kicks.

The hotel already has keyless entry for the rooms and Botlr, a robot butler, and is testing mobile phone controlled lighting and virtual reality experiences to introduce into the hotel rooms next year.

Meanwhile, in Australia, some hotels are still charging for basic wifi. Bring on the robot butlers.
