Pub crawl no more.
Some tourists visit Prague for its stunning gothic and mediaeval architecture, others visit to take full advantage of its massive – and very affordable – beer scene. It is the latter kind of tourist that the Czech capital is trying to deter from visiting with its new ban on pub and nightclub crawls.
“It will not be possible to have guided tours between 10pm and 6am,” said Prague deputy mayor Zdenek Hrib when it was announced that organised night-time pub crawls will now be banned.

Due to the insanely low price of beer – in some restaurants it’s cheaper than a bottle of water – and proximity to the UK – Prague is just under a two hour flight from London – the city has become popular for bachelor and bachelorette parties, which often book organised pub and nightclub crawls.
These kinds of groups are known to drink copious amounts of beer and can be quite rowdy when entering and exiting venues in the city, disrupting the nights of locals. Not only is noise an issue, but also safety due to the disorderly behaviour of drunk tourists.
The ban is set to come into force in November and will only target tours that take place at night. Tourists looking to take advantage of the city’s ridiculously cheap €3 pints will still be able to do so, just not on a paid tour.
