This is not a drill.
Qantas mystery flights have to be one of the coolest upsides created by the global coronavirus pandemic. And now there’s a new mystery flight to get excited about.
Following the success of its recent one-off seven-hour aerial tourism “flight to nowhere” –– which booked out in a matter of minutes, becoming the fastest selling flight in their history ––the airline has announced a series of scenic getaway flights, which will land in key holiday destinations around the country.
The scenic flight concept has evolved somewhat, to incorporate overnight getaways to some of the most iconic Australian spots.
Qantas Group Chief Executive Alan Joyce said that the new scenic flights were good news for many in the travel and tourism industry. Noting that the airline is currently operating at “just under 30 per cent of our pre-COVID domestic capacity” and “hoping that will reach about 50 per cent by Christmas.”
