With more than 80,000 discounted tickets available across the airline’s entire international network, the sale covers a huge range of destinations. Here’s where you can fly in style.

Aussie travellers with a taste for the finer things in the air are in for a treat – Qantas has just dropped a premium cabin sale that spans the globe, offering major discounts on Business, Premium Economy and even First Class seats.

With more than 80,000 discounted tickets available across the airline’s international network, the sale covers a huge range of destinations including Asia, North America, South Africa, the UK, South America, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Fares start from just $999 return and include checked baggage, meals, drinks and in-flight entertainment.

And the good news is that some of the sale fares are available across peak travel periods, including the Northern Hemisphere summer, the September school holidays and the December-January Christmas holidays.

The sale is live now and runs until 11.59pm (AEST) on June 18, unless seats sell out earlier – which, let’s be honest, they probably will.

Luxury for less

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said the sale responds to strong demand for elevated travel experiences, especially on long-haul flights.

“Premium travel is something our customers really value,” Wallace said. “This sale is one we know our customers will love, with discounted premium seats across almost our entire international network, including over peak periods like the Northern Hemisphere summer and Christmas holidays.”

Where can you go?

For short-haul jaunts, Premium Economy fares start from $999 return between Sydney and Auckland. You can also hop over to Singapore for $2,429, or take a transpacific jaunt from Melbourne to Los Angeles for $3,299 return.

Travellers with a more adventurous agenda can snag a Premium Economy seat from Sydney to London from $3,799 – a compelling price considering the journey’s duration and inclusions – or opt for Sydney to New York at $4,299 return.

If Business Class is more your style (read: lie-flat beds, gourmet menus, lounge access and priority everything), there are solid deals to be had. Fly from Melbourne or Brisbane to Queenstown for $1,199, or escape to Bali in Business Class for $2,799. Long-haul Business fares include Melbourne to Singapore for $3,699, and Brisbane to Tokyo for $5,299.

Is it worth booking a premium seat?

Qantas’ Premium Economy cabins feature wider seats, extra legroom and dedicated cabin service, making it a great option for long-haul flights. Meanwhile, Business Class means fully flat beds, airport lounge access and meals designed by Neil Perry’s Rockpool team.

It’s also good news for people with Frequent Flyer points

If you’ve got frequent flyer points burning a hole in your account, now’s a rare chance to maximise them. Many of the routes included in the sale are available as Classic Plus reward seats – meaning you can part pay with points and cash, even on traditionally blackout dates like December.

And remember, it’s a good idea to try and use points before August 5, because Qantas is increasing the number of Frequent Flyer points required to secure a Classic Reward fare on that date.

The fine print

In short: if you’ve been toying with the idea of upgrading your next international flight, this might be your chance.
