Ahhh iso: mother of invention. The lockdown that launched a thousand 50-step beauty routines and gave birth to banana bread bakeoffs, secret recipe releases and DIY facials alike, has a little more do-it-yourself love to give.

Now, skincare savants – and iso beauty blunderers – can be rewarded for their genius (or foolishness), because QT Hotels and Resorts is searching for Australia’s best iso beauty win… or fail. And they’ll be rewarding the winners with a day spa prize at spaQ.

The most innovative – or incriminating – responses will be rewarded with spaQ unlocked, for a day of unlimited treatments for you and four friends, complete with champagne, skin-boosting snacks and a take home beauty bag valued at over $300.

Some of the cracker responses that the brand has already received include: using a Sharpie as a quick-fix for grey hair; enjoying dishwasher steam in lieu of a facial; and creating an at-home hot stone massage by stealing pebbles from a neighbours yard, slathering them in olive oil and heating them up.

“Since reopening, we’ve had guests share their home spa, beauty and grooming remedies,” said Naomi Gregory, Head of Development and Operations for spaQ, who will be leading the judging.

“From homemade exfoliates plucked from backyard herb gardens to DIY facials created from the kitchen fruit bowl. We’ve also heard some horror stories courtesy of makeshift massage oils and brow tinting-turned-tainting. spaQ unlocked is a celebration of our guests making it through the past few months!”

spaQ unlocked submissions will be open for two weeks from Sunday June 21. You can submit your iso beauty wins (or #fails) via the QT Hotel and spaQ Instagram channels. The winner will be announced and contacted via Instagram on Monday July 6.
