Spring was made for long lunches and good food.

Spring in the Riverina is shaping up to be a goodie with the Riverina Long Lunch & Good Food Weekend taking place  20–21 September. Hosted by Farm Door, the weekend brings together the region’s growers, makers and food lovers for two days of feasting and exploring.

The headline act? A long table lunch set on a family farm between Wagga Wagga and Junee, where chef Charly Pretet (Terra Firma Dining) will cook over fire using produce sourced entirely from the Riverina. Expect generous shared plates, live music, and cocktails made with local spirits, all against a backdrop of canola fields in full bloom.

Beyond the Saturday feast, the program stretches into Sunday with floristry workshops and the aptly named Sunday Drive. Think a leisurely road trip through Junee, Temora, Coolamon and Wagga Wagga, with pop-up tastings, kids’ activities, flower picking and more opportunities to eat along the way.

Known as the ‘food bowl of Australia’, the Riverina produces everything from citrus and wine grapes to lamb and artisan goods. The weekend is designed to shine a spotlight on that abundance, while giving visitors a chance to connect directly with the people behind it.

Tickets are limited, so if a weekend of local flavour and country hospitality sounds like your thing, this is one worth planning ahead for.
