The cost of climbing the most iconic tourist attraction is sky high.
Climbing the Eiffel Tower is on the top of the bucket lists of most tourists when visiting Paris. But it’s about to get more expensive. Come June 17 (just before the Paris 2024 Olympics begin in July), the ticket price for an adult to head to top of the Eiffel Tower will go from €29.40 ($47.99, approx.) to €35.30 ($57.61, approx.).

That’s not the only ticket price increasing. An adult elevator ticket to reach the second floor will increase from €18.80 ($30.69, approx.) to €22.60 ($36.89 approx.). Even the cheapest of passes, the stair access ticket, will see a price jump from €11.80 ($19.26, approx.) to €14.20 (23.18, approx.).
There is some reprieve for families travelling with tots in tow, children under the age of four will still be able to enter for free.
So why are prices going up? According to BFMTV the increase in ticket prices is due to the lack of visitors from 2020 to 2022. The iconic attraction usually draws just under 7 million visitors a year, but in 2020 only welcomed 1.5 million visitors. Due to the pandemic, the Eiffel Tower saw a €113 million loss in revenue over the two years.

The Eiffel Tower is not the first attraction to take advantage of the influx of tourists France, and Paris in particular, is expecting due to the Summer Olympics. The Louvre Museum is raising its ticket prices for the first time since 2017, from €17 to €22.
