Take your phone off silent – STAT
While many Australians were initially hesitant to receive a Covid vaccine, it seems the tide has well and truly turned.
Perhaps it’s the talk of one-off payments for fully vaccinated individuals, the discussion about a vaccine lottery or our itchy feet waiting for travel bubbles to actually get off the ground, that has meant more and more Australians are lining up to get a Covid vaccine.

But the Australian federal government has been heavily criticised for a painfully slow vaccine rollout, with only 16% of Australians fully vaccinated. That’s pretty low compared to countries like Iceland and Chile where nearly 75% and 65% respectively, of the population has received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

So, it comes as no surprise that one inventive individual has decided to jump the queue (so to speak) and do what so many people have been waiting (literally) for.
Enter Covid Queue – a website created by Reddit user Fraser Hemphill where a bell sounds when a Pfizer vaccination appointment in Sydney becomes available. “I struggled to book a vaccine, so I made a site that DINGS where there are vaccine bookings available,” said Hemphill on a Reddit post. “It’s difficult to book a Covid vaccination in Sydney right now, so this website will update you when there are slots available.”
The simple website instructs people to log into either the RPA Hospital, St Vincent Hospital or Sydney Olympic Hub sites ahead of time so you’ll be ready to jump on and book as soon as an appointment becomes available.

If you’ve been trying to nab an appointment but haven’t had any luck, it’s worth giving Covid Queue a go, especially because the nifty site finds available appointments that are three weeks apart, so booking in for both jabs is super simple.
Then, once you’re fully vaccinated, it’s time to start dreaming about where you’re going to travel to first.
Hopefully it’s only a matter of time until we can resume our love affair with exploring the world.
