Why Hennessy’s Year of the Horse release is about more than what’s in the bottle

There are limited editions, and then there are occasion bottles. For the Year of the Horse, Hennessy has unveiled a striking new collection that leans into symbolism, craft and gifting theatre in a big way. Think bold copper tones, fluid red designs and cognacs that feel made for banquet tables, centrepiece moments and celebrations that stretch long into the night.

The Year of the Horse is traditionally associated with energy, freedom and forward momentum, and Hennessy’s latest limited editions capture that spirit both visually and philosophically. Across Hennessy V.S.O.P, X.O and Paradis, the Maison has reimagined the horse as a dynamic, galloping form, rendered in metallic copper tones and deep mineral pigments, set against flowing red backdrops. The effect is striking and contemporary yet also anchored in tradition.

There’s also a deeper cultural thread running through the collection. Hennessy’s relationship with China dates back to 1859, and the brand has long marked key cultural moments through design, storytelling and collaboration. These Year of the Horse editions continue that tradition, celebrating heritage and modern expression in equal measure, and positioning the bottles as objects to be kept and gifted, not simply opened and forgotten.

At the pinnacle of the release sits Hennessy The Horse Edition, an ultra-luxury cognac that marks the first chapter in a new twelve-part zodiac series. Crafted from exceptionally rare eaux-de-vie drawn from vintages born under the sign of the Horse, and limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, the releases are powerful, complex and undoubtedly collectible for lovers of the spirit.

Beyond the bottle itself, Hennessy is bringing the celebration into the real world with a Year of the Horse gifting and personalisation pop-up at Chatswood Chase, running from 6 to 18 February 2026. Collectors can have bottles personalised by an on-site Hennessy calligrapher from midday each day, alongside bespoke gift wrapping, an interactive wishing tree and a lucky fortune wheel offering the chance to win exclusive Hennessy gifts.

The celebrations continue at Crown Sydney, where Hennessy will anchor a series of festive dining moments throughout February. Golden Century will host a special Year of the Horse banquet from 3 to 28 February, while Teahouse will serve zodiac-inspired cocktails across the same period. Woodcut joins the festivities with a dedicated Hennessy pairing experience from 17 to 22 February, rounding out a month-long program that places cognac at the heart of the table.
