With waterfront cocktails and an all-vinyl playlist.
The former Rosetta site has a surprising new occupant onboard, just five months after the Neil Perry jewel closed. The Crown Melbourne’s coveted restaurant space will reopen as Marmont, with hospitality and entertainment figure Grant Smillie at the helm.
With uninterrupted views of the Yarra River, Marmont will enjoy direct access from the Riverwalk, fitting for its California-inspired concept – minus the surfers and with better public transport.
Aiming to be the kind of place where you come for dinner, and stay for the night, Marmont will serve up alfresco lunches, sunset cocktails, and an endless soundtrack from the all-vinyl DJ decks.
Occupying the space previously announced for The Henley (which was initially meant to take over from Rosetta, but never eventuated), the all-day venue will have a laid-back, come-as-you-are energy.
Marmont will be Smillie’s re-entrance to the Australian hospitality scene, after 12 years in LA operating venues like E.P. & L.P. and Strings of Life under his group, Botanical Hospitality.
Marmont is slated to open in summer, so we just found our sunshiney hangout spot. Keep an eye on the Marmont website for updates.
