An adults-only Milk Bar is coming to Sydney this Easter

Milk Bar

Bringing boozy milkshakes and desserts to Opera Bar.

Sydney’s 18+ population will be able to revisit their childhood this Easter with a milk bar of sorts making its way to the harbourside drinking den of Opera Bar. But this milk bar won’t be a convenience store laden with the likes of lollies and chocolate milk, but rather a pop-up that comes courtesy of a collaboration with Petersham favourite Daisy’s Milkbar.

From March 32 to April 2, Opera Bar will host the Naughty Milk Bar, harking back to milk bars of the past. A pocket of the venue will be transformed with pastel booths and giant ice creams, gum ball machines and vintage paraphernalia.

The menu is an (adults-only) ode to Australian childhoods – there’s a boozy version of Cottee’s cordial and a spiked Milo milkshake. There’s also an alcohol-laden dessert menu to choose from, including the Pavlova Colada, made from Bacardi, pineapple, lime, coconut, passionfruit and meringue.

Of course it being Easter, there’s a themed dish or two in the mix. Trifle, banana splits and soft serve will come covered in Easter eggs (to the delight of sweet tooths everywhere). Classic (non-alcoholic) meals will also make an appearance, with fairy bread, chocolate crackles and lamingtons available at the counter. A milk bar burger and a deli platter of Jatz crackers paired with olives, cheese and cabanossi will be available to order.

“I’m still pinching myself that our little cafe in Petersham will be harbourside for the long weekend at Sydney’s most iconic bar!” says Daisy’s owner, Jessica Barnes of the partnership.

But eating won’t be the only activity available at the Naughty Milk Bar, with lolly guessing competitions, arcade games, Easter show bags, and board game tournaments set to be incorporated.

Tickets to the pop-up can be purchased currently online. There you will also find access to the Naughty Combo snack pack, which includes a snack (a jaffle, sausage roll or mac & cheese), a cocktail and a soft serve.
