Five new restaurants to try at the Sydney Fish Market

We’re hooked already.

It’s o-fish-ial (sorry, I had to). The shiny new Sydney Fish Market is here, and it’s instantly made waves (that’s the last one, promise). After years of construction and an eye-watering $836 million later, the Sydney Fish Market opened its doors to the public on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Australia’s home of seafood has moved next door to a striking new harbourside location on Blackwattle Bay, next door to its original location, and has brought with it a revitalised mix of retail and dining. From fresh produce, deli goods, baked goods and much-loved Sydney favourites to big names like Luke Nguyen, the Sydney Fish Market is set to become one of 2026’s hottest dining destinations. Here are five new venues within the market to secure a reservation at.

TJ’s Po Boys

Is a fish market complete with a restaurant slinging lobster rolls? We think not. Leaders in the Australian hospitality industry, Trippas White Group (Lee Ho Fuk, Botanic House, Infinity by Mark Best), have brought TJ’s Po Boys to Sydney Fish Market. Expect Southern US-inspired lobster rolls, burgers and craft beers.

Lua

One of Australia’s most beloved chefs, Luke Nguyen, will be serving up his signature southeast Asian cuisine at his latest venue, Lua, within the Sydney Fish Market. Thanks to its proximity to the freshest seafood in Sydney, we expect there to be a heavy focus on seafood dishes.

Tam Jiak by Ho Jiak

With multiple Ho Jiak locations across Sydney and Melbourne, it’s safe to say that it might just be one of Australia’s favourite Malaysian restaurants. The chef and brains behind the group of restaurants, Junda Khoo, has brought his classic homestyle Malaysian cooking to Sydney Fish Market.

Hamsi

Efendy Group, the talent behind some of Sydney’s best Turkish/Med-inspired restaurants (Anason, Baharat, Maydanoz), will be launching its newest venue at Sydney Fish Market. Hamsi will serve up Turkish charcoal dishes and a mezze bar by chef Somer Sivrioglu.

Touch Wood

Locally loved Inner West favourite Dirty Red cafe has introduced its latest dining concept at Sydney Fish Market. Touch Wood will be a cafe by day – perfect for brunch – and a bistro and bar by night.
