Brisbane welcomes Bar Miette, an all-day cafe and restaurant by Andrew McConnell

Bar Miette

It marks the first interstate venture for the hospitality legends.

Brisbane is in for a treat this week with the grand opening of Bar Miette, the new venue from Andrew McConnell and Jo McGann.

Opening this Monday, July 1, Bar Miette is the first of two new venues the hospitality duo have on the books for Brisbane. Located on the river front corridor connecting Howard Smith Wharves and Eagle Street, Bar Miette aims to be a fuss-free Euro-inspired bar with McConnell’s signature elegant style on show.

Unlike McConnell and McGann’s other acclaimed venues (Gimlet, Supernormal, Cumulus Inc and Cutler & Co), Bar Miette will open early for breakfast before both lunch and dinner services so guests can take advantage of the shifting views over the Brisbane River from morning to night.

McConnell said in a statement, “It’s a place for people to use as they wish and as the occasion dictates – for coffee and breakfast, lunch (early or late), snacks and dinner, a cocktail or a glass of wine, from its elevated vantage point overlooking the Maiwar (Brisbane) river and Story Bridge.”

What’s on the menu at Bar Miette?

If you’re up early, head in for granola roasted with tahini and cinnamon, or crisp bacon and Gentleman’s relish on a soft bap roll. Lunch and dinner give way to freshly shucked rock oysters, raw coral trout with capers and citrus oil, slow-cooked octopus served with tender potatoes and aioli, as well as a dedicated ‘on toast’ section because who doesn’t love toast?

Cold roast chicken; duck liver parfait; beef carpaccio; and a swag of charcuterie and cheese make Bar Miette a snacker’s paradise, perfect for long lazy lunches on the terrace or quick power lunches at the bar with your work bestie.

When will Bar Miette open?

Bar Miette opens July 1 at 443 Queen Street, Brisbane. To book head, visit the website.
