Swing by for naan pizzas and boozy mango lassi.
Chef and restauranteur Jessi Singh will welcome a new member to the family when his latest restaurant, Daughter in Law, launches in Melbourne next week. The venue follows on from siblings, Horn Please in Fitzroy North, Babu Ji in NYC and Don’t Tell Aunty in Sydney.
The Australian meets Indian bar and grill will serve snackable streetfood, including fried puri and colourful chutney and papadum platters, stocked with cumin-spiced yoghurt, pickled mango and chilli sauce. Aussie lamb chops will be cooked in a tandoor oven alongside curry-spiced spare ribs, while naan breads will be topped pizza-style with masala prawns and tandoori chicken.

Accompanying the menu will be an innovative wine list developed by Sacha Imrie (ex-Marion Wine Bar) that focuses on new world wines including exclusively imported Californian drops. You’ll also be able to help yourself from a bar fridge of local craft beers, or put in an order for a cocktail, from boozy mango lassi to a beetroot and mezcal concoction.
The 95-seater venue is still yet to debut its flamboyant fit-out which will pair dusty pink walls with gold fixtures, deep green velvet banquette seating and American-style u-shape booths.
