The perfect excuse to use your best china.

With travel, dining out and shopping all off the table during lockdown, many of us have turned to cooking as our main source of entertainment, and it seems we’re not alone. Some of the world’s most stylish people have also been cooking up a storm, and now they’re sharing their favourite home recipes.

Months in isolation and our newly found fascination with cooking may have given rise to countless viral food trends – like dalgona coffee and focaccia art, to name just a few – but even they weren’t enough to satisfy our taste for quarantine cuisine.

Luckily, in the spirit of generosity and solidarity, some of the world’s best-known hotels, brands and personalities have released their best, most closely guarded secret family recipes to give us all an excuse to stay in the kitchen. Among them, Disney’s mickey mouse beignets and churro bites, Universal Studios’ colourful confetti milkshake, the IKEA Swedish meatball recipe and several biscuit recipes from Arnotts.

These five all-new recipes come directly from the style set. So, not only will give you an excellent excuse to break out the good china, they’ll also add instant fashion cred to your next meal.

Martha Stewart’s Pomegranate Margarita – lifestyle queen Martha Stewart delighted cocktail lovers around the world when she shared her recipe for pomegranate margaritas – or as her team affectionately dubbed them Martha-ritas – on Instagram last month. While the icy blended recipe is designed to be more of a summer cocktail, it’s certain to taste just as good during the Aussie winter months.

Gucci Head Chef’s Go-To Linguine – the head chef at Gucci Osteria in Florence, Karime Lopez, shared a recipe for one of the restaurant’s signature Italian dishes on the company’s blog in April. The ‘Lucky Fennel’ linguine is a creamy pasta dish that pairs prawns, fennel and lemon, offering a little taste of Florence to housebound foodies everywhere. Gucci has since shared several other house recipes including dumplings and kachapuri.

Phillip Lim’s Salt & Pepper Shrimp – those who prefer simpler recipes and spicier flavours need look no further than Phillip Lim’s Salt & Pepper Shrimp recipe. The creative director of 3.1 Phillip Lim shared the recipe from his cookbook More Than Our Bellies in an Instagram post, recently telling US Vogue that he loved “the blend of savory, spicy, salty flavors.” Since then, he’s shared countless others, which are all available in his Instagram highlights. And if that gives you taste for more recipes, thankfully his cookbook has just been given a digital release on Apple Books.

Jason Wu’s Banana Galettes – label lovers can take their pick of this designer’s recipes, because Jason Wu has an entire Instagram account dedicated to his cooking, titled Mr Wu Eats. He shared his recipe for Galettes Completes in a post in mid-May, and the sweet twist on it just days later. If you’re after something a little more savoury, his Untraditional Family Fried Rice Recipe is also available from The New York Times.

Wes Gordon’s Oatmeal Cookies – the Creative Director of Carolina Herrera recently shared his grandmother’s recipe for oatmeal cookies on the Carolina Herrera blog, as part of the fashion house’s Carolina Herrera Stays Home campaign. Gordon told style site Fashionista that the cookie recipe had been passed down for generations, and he’d been making it since childhood. “I still have the original, handwritten copy of it,” he said. Several other Carolina Herrera recipe faves, including Penne All’arrabiata and Pommes Toupinel, are available on the website.
