The edible Christmas wreath dessert trend is making the rounds again and it's a hole-in-one

Pavlova wreath with mango cream and passionfruit mint syrup

Just looping you in.

We all love Christmas wreaths on our jolly front doors, so why not bring that festive touch to the table?

The pavlova wreath takes the classic Australian (fine, and New Zealand) dessert and shapes it into a bundt, creating a gorgeous centrepiece for Christmas dessert. Or for a backyard bash. Or for Monday night.

A pavlova wreath combines a crisp outer shell with a soft, marshmallowy centre, piled high with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and holiday-inspired decorations. Seasonal toppings like strawberries, raspberries, and cherries bring a vibrant red colour, while mint leaves and kiwi slices add a festive green, giving a natural holiday palette. We can’t get enough of this mango cream and passionfruit mint syrup recipe for a summery hit.

The pavlova wreath has even gone mainstream, with a convenient pre-made pav wreath showing up in the Woolworths Christmas range for another year.

The wreath doesn’t end there though. Let us loop you in on a super simple hack if you’re not much on baking, or would rather spend more time at the dinner table than in front of a hot stove: the lamington wreath. A new coconut-topped contender has entered the ring alongside the usual pavlova, pudding, and trifle. Home bakers like Instagram user @berriesandpomegranate have been switched onto the lamington wreaths, and as it turns out, they’re refreshingly easy to make.

The show-stopping dessert is simply made from a ring of lamington fingers, which you can either make yourself or buy from the shops. The lamingtons are assembled in a circular shape using whipped chantilly cream and strawberry jam to hold them together. You can also decorate with whole strawberries and raspberries to create the festive appearance of Christmas baubles. Cute!

Will people know you’ve slipped open a sleeve of chocolate lamingtons and fashioned them into a circle? Possibly. Will they care? Absolutely not, everyone loves lamingtons. Jazz the lamington fingers up with some fresh berries, flaked coconut, whipped cream, or anything you feel like. If there’s one time of year that more is more, it’s Christmas, so don’t be shy.

Best of all, the dessert is already portioned up, so all you need to do is help yourself to a finger or ten.

If you want to go all out and do some serious baking, give our frozen profiterole wreath a crack. The choux pastry puffs are filled with chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream and capped with a bronze caramel shell. Easy to serve, even easier to eat.
