That is not how we roll.
The internet’s posh uncle, AKA the Etiquette Expert, William Hanson may have taught us how to correctly spear our peas, but now the bestselling author is coming for our sausage rolls, and we’ve got some feelings about it.
Hanson is the owner and executive director of The English Manner, an etiquette and protocol coaching company in the UK, as well as being a podcast host and author of all things manners. It’s safe to say that he knows a thing or two, however, we draw the line at using knives and forks to eat a sauso roll.
This week’s TikTok collab between Hanson and comedy creator, Joe Tasker, pits the two Brits against one other as each demonstrates their approach to tackling the sausage roll. Tasker, correctly, picks up the pastry with his hands to dip it into tomato sauce and is quickly reprimanded by the knife-wielding Hanson.

Hanson then proceeds to cut dainty slices of sausage on a 45 degree angle, smears tomato sauce onto the piece, and consumes it like a psychopath.
Obviously Hanson has never eaten a sausage roll the correct way – which would be with the hand not occupied by the steering wheel, while willing a red light so you can squeeze some more tommy sauce on. Nice try, mate.
We’d love to see what he makes of the traveller pie.
