The wait is over.
Brownes has made a lot of West Aussies very happy by bringing back the much-loved Dirt Dessert.
This fan-favourite dessert, which disappeared from shelves in 2012 when its marshmallow supplier went out of business, is finally returning after a 12-year campaign by its dedicated fans. Dirt Dessert is made up of a crumbly “dirt” base, marshmallows, and a layer of chocolate Yogo on top.
Since 2013, a Facebook group called “Bring Back Yogo Dirt Dessert” has been pushing for its comeback and now has over 2,400 members – including WA Premier Roger Cook.

To celebrate its return, Brownes has teamed up with Spud King Tony Galati, and for the first four weeks after its relaunch, Dirt Dessert will be available exclusively at Spud Shed.
Brownes CEO Natalie Sarich-Dayton shared how blown away the company is by how much people still love this nostalgic treat. “If you were a kid growing up in the 2000s Dirt Dessert was about as close as you could get to pure unadulterated joy.
“One of the most common phone calls we get at Brownes headquarters is someone calling up to ask when we are bringing back Dirt Dessert. Even after being out of production for more than a decade.”
Galati is just as excited, saying, “My kids grew up with Dirt Dessert and when Brownes suggested we work together to bring it back to West Australians, I was on board right away.”
To kick things off, Brownes will be giving away Dirt Desserts at Spudshed Innaloo from 8am on Friday, August 30.
