Restaurant booking giant TheFork to cease operation in Australia

Allard, Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Reservation cancelled.

International restaurant booking platform TheFork will cease operations in Australia come March 2024, citing the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Australian arm of TheFork (previously known as Dimmi) was launched in 2009 by entrepreneur Stevan Premutico and was purchased by TripAdvisor in 2015 to expand the network’s 55,000 restaurant partners across Europe and Australia.

TheFork, as well as its largest competitors like Open Table, SevenRooms and Yelp Reservations, has been a go-to for up-to-date recommendations for restaurants around the world based on geography, price and experience.

Loyalty perks such as TheFork’s Yum points will expire as of March 31, 2024 when the Australian website and app will become inaccessible.

Gift cards, however, will remain valid for three years from their purchase date in accordance with Australian law.
